Well, everybody, here we are 3 months after the Deepwater Horizen well exploded and started gushing oil into the Gulf of Mexico. I’m currently still working with a contractor with the oil prevention and clean up areas of our marshes. 80% of the waters that I like to fish haven’t been affected by the oil that has come into the Barataria Bay area.
The efforts of all the local charter fisherman, commercial shrimp, crab, and oyster fisherman that are helping clean up and prevent the oil from doing any more damage have been paying off greatly. The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries have opened up more waters that were recently closed to recreational fishing. This is a good sign that these waters aren’t tainted with oil and the fish are safe to catch.
Even though I’m not currently fishing, I do still have a couple of captains that would be more than happy to take anyone out for a fun day on the water fishing. They have been catching good redfish in numbers and a few trout. Feel free to call and book a trip.
