Fishing after Hurricane Ida

by | Oct 8, 2021

Fishing after hurricane Ida has had its challenges. Like most hurricanes of this size, there are always changes in the marsh, marshes get destroyed and moved around. This isn’t always a bad thing for fishing but makes us fish different areas differently sometimes. Most of the time, hurricanes push fish out of the affected areas so it may be tough fishing the weeks immediately after but things get back to normal once the water clears up.

Eight weeks after landfall, we were able to get things together in our lives and start fishing again after hurricane Ida. It’s been a typical late October-early November fishing season. Mostly targeting redfish in the marshes and along the edges of the bay and shrimp under a cork trolling the banks.

New Orleans Style Fishing Charter Catch of the Day

With cooperating conditions, everyone has been able to catch their share of fish on the bayou. Along with redfish, we’ve been catching some black drums, sheep heads, and even a few catfish. It shouldn’t be long before we start to see some speckled trout action.

I want to thank everyone who reached out to me with their thoughts, concerns, offering help and prayer during these tough times after this massive storm. I’m humbled and I appreciate each and every one of you. Ida knocked us down but not out. We are bayou strong and will continue to serve our area with 100% of our effort and dedication in making each trip the best it can be.
